Spring has finally settled in, and the flower beds are beginning to wake up around the beautiful Westwind Lodge. One of the surest signs of the season is the return of the hostas, pushing their way through the soil with bright green leaves unfurling a little more each day. After a long winter, seeing those first shoots appear always feels like a small celebration of warmer days ahead.
The hostas are growing quickly now, filling in the shaded garden spaces with their rich texture and layered leaves. Some varieties are deep green, while others carry soft blue tones or creamy white edges that brighten the beds naturally. As they spread, they create that peaceful woodland garden feeling that fits perfectly around the lodge grounds.
Along with the growing hostas comes one of the most satisfying spring projects — mulching the flower beds. Fresh mulch instantly transforms the landscape. The dark, clean layer makes the greenery stand out while also helping the soil retain moisture and suppress weeds during the busy summer months. There’s something rewarding about seeing the beds freshly edged and neatly mulched, giving the entire property a cared-for and welcoming appearance.
The hostas will continue to grow fuller in the weeks ahead, and the freshly mulched beds will provide the perfect backdrop for all the blooms still to come
